Theme:    "Life Is Hard For A Reason!”
Scripture:        Ephesians 4:22-24;  St. John 10:10
Key Verse:St. John 10:10
Synopsis:
I feel one of life's greatest misteries is our failure as pastors to remind listeners and self that the abundant life Jesus speaks on in St. John 10:10 does not
mean we are going to be financially rich and life is not going to be trouble nor problem free just because you/me/we decide to live for Christ.

Theme:   " How Much Effort Are You Putting Into It! "
Scripture:      Colossians 3:20--4:1
Key Verse:     Colossians 3:22
Synopsis:
We often find ourselves caught between these two saying: we either want something for nothing or we spend a lot, while often getting very little to
show for it.  I like another saying much better, and yes I've sort of tweaked it a little: "Give Your Best and God Will Add/Supply the Rest!"

Sunday, October 28, 2012
Speaker: Mrs. Paulette Ealey
Theme: " What Are You Giving? ”
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 8: 1-7

Sunday, October 21, 2012
Theme: " S. O. S. Please Come Quickly Lord "
Scripture: Psalm 70:1-5

Sunday, October 14, 2012
Theme:     "His Blood Makes Us Qualified and Worthy"
Scripture: Acts 4:1-13
Key Verse:Acts 4:13
Synopsis: Being a Christian is about spending quality time with Jesus. I grew up hearing one should steal away to their own praying ground or
their own prayer closet and have a little talk with Jesus, but make sure you listen to Jesus after you finish talking! Spending time with Jesus will
enable you to develop the kind of boldness exhibited by Peter and John in this text. Are you in the habit of exhibiting any boldness about you for
the Lord? If not, maybe you will consider spending more time with Jesus as you pray, meditation, and study the scriptures.

Sunday, October 7, 2012
Theme: " How Are You Handling Your Call To Ministry? "
Scripture: 1 Peter 2:1-10
Key Verse:1 Peter 2:9
Synopsis: According to 1 Peter 2:9, we are all called to be ministers.  Just because one does not serve a church does not excuse him or her from
being God's spokesperson.  Don't you just love 1 Peter 2:9!  You cannot belong to God and be a silent bystander!  This passage reminds us that not
only are ordained clergy called to be ministers, but the non-ordained are called as well.
The only qualification for serving God is a willingness to do so.

Sunday, September 30, 2012
Theme: "Faith Requires More Than Believing"
Scripture:   James 2:14-26
Synopsis: It does not require anything to believe when it comes to faith.
Real faith, however, requires action. Thus James states very clearly that faith without words/action is dead.
Do you have a believing faith or an action faith?

Sunday, September 23, 2012
Theme: "Faith Requires Action In Addition To Believing!"
Scripture:  Proverbs 29:25; St. Mark 10: 46-52
Key verse :Proverbs 29:25; St. Mark 10:52
Synopsis:   Belief and Action are the Key components of Faith. It is simply not enough just to believe while claiming to have Faith, as it has been
stated so many times before: "Faith without works is dead!" Faith is a call to action.

Sunday, September 16, 2012
Speaker: Mrs. Coleen Bush

Sunday, September 9, 2012
Theme: "A Brand New Life!"
Scripture:  Revelation 21:1-7
Key verse :Revelation 21:1
Synopsis: If you are tired of the way you feel, act, live and in general, tired of being tired, why don't you give Jesus a try.  Jesus will have you feeling
brand new, if you consent to giving him a try.  According to John a new life, a brand new life is possible, but a brand new positive life only comes from
knowing and walking with Jesus.

Sunday, September 2, 2012
Theme: “Have You Been Washed In The Blood?“
Scripture: St. John 1:29-34

Sunday, August 26, 2012
Theme: “Don't Allow Pride To Block Your Blessings “
Scripture:    2 Kings 5:1-12
Overview:
Nearly everyone is willing to do the thing that shines the light on them or places them in the spot light.  How many of us are willing to do the small things,
the little things that draw very little attention.  A very close second is the fact many like giving orders, but very few like following orders. Thus the story of
Naaman in our text.  How many blessings have you missed simply because you felt that some task was beneath YOU!

Sunday, August 19, 2012Men's Day
Godly Men leading in the worship & praise of our Great God!!
Honorable Chris Rey, Mayor of Spring Lake
Scripture:    Psalms 133-1-3

Sunday, August 12, 2012
Theme: "Humility In Leading"
Scripture:    1st Peter 5:1-5
Key Verses:1st Peter 5:2&3
Overview:
As I was driving to church this afternoon (Tuesday) a very interesting song was playing on 107.7, “Somebody’s Always Watching Me!”  Never a truer
statement will ever be uttered, spoken, and even sang.  As parents, our children are always watching us.  As Christians, non-Christians and Christians
alike are always watching us.  Thus it only stands to reason that as Leaders, others are watching us as well.  This text causes one to stop and take a
look at themself.  The author of this letter provides us with valuable knowledge about leadership and being a leader.

Theme:   " Is Your Soul Anchored In The Lord? "
Scripture:    St. Mark 4:35-41
Key Verses:St. Mark 4:35
Overview:
A minister with many years of experience made the following observation.  He said most of us are either fresh out of a storm, heading into a storm or in the
middle of a storm.  He concluded his statement with these words:  In some of our lives, it is storming all of the time!
I don't know your situation, but I do know storms show up sooner or later.
The best way to be prepared for a storm when it arrives is to be
anchored in the Word of God.
Storm   Survivors    survive the storm because they have a   soul   anchored in the Lord.
The Disciples fall   pray   to   fear   and   panic   when the storm erupts at sea.
The storm at sea exposed the Disciples lack of   spiritual       maturity   .

Theme:   "How Do You Handle The Sifting?"
Scripture:    St. Luke 22:24-34
Key Verses:
Overview:
I once heard a minister say and I quote: “There can be no great spiritual gain without having to take the test sometimes!”  Back in the 80’s the Rhythm &
Blues singer, Betty Wright, said a similar thing when she coined the lyrics: “No Pain, No Gain!”  In a real sense that’s all sifting is about.  Sifting is God’s
way of measuring how far we have come since the last distraction in our life that tried to derail our walk with God and hinder us from fulfilling our purpose.
Sifting  brings glory to   God    .
Job   is the perfect example of one who praised God even when everything seemed lost.
Sifting   probes our weaknesses, revealing where we’re
thinking ,  “  We       can    !”

Theme:       "A Strong Kind of Meekness"
Scripture:    Psalm 27:1-5
2 Timothy 1:1-7
Key Verses:Psalm 27:1
2 Timothy 1:7
Overview:
As Christians we do not have to be “less than” to fit in or be accepted.  As Christians we do not have to be timid nor afraid when it comes to saying “NO!”
No is not a dirty words.  In fact there are times when we’d be better off if & when we did say no!  Don’t allow the “Fear of Rejection” to place a stranglehold
on your spiritual freedom which comes with a personal relationship through Jesus the Christ.
1  There is a major difference between   meakness   and   weakness   .
2     meakness   means   strength  under   control   .
3  What two men in the Bible are called meek?   Jesus   &   Moses
4  The “Fear of Rejection is based on two principles:
A.  We all need to be   loved  , which is true!
B.  We feel our need to be loved is dependent upon   one       person   or a   group   of people.

Scripture:     Proverbs 29:11-25
 Judges 15:1-11
Theme: "Please Be Yourself!"
Key Verses:  Proverbs 29: 11 & 25
Overview:
There are two things some of us do which produce very negative results and make us very bitter individuals.
The first:Spending to much time thinking about how others
think and feel about us.
The second: Exerting to much time, energy and effort trying to get
even while seeking revenge.
Use your time wisely and productively.  In doing so you will reap positive fruits and results.

Scripture:    Job 1:1-12
Theme: Three Qualities of a Faithful Servant
Overview:
Most of us are good at being positive and upbeat when all is going well with us and our families.  Why do we change so drastically when things are
not going our way?  If you want to remain the same in season and out of season read the Book of Job.

Three qualities of a faithful servant.
1.     The ability to be a   thankful  person in the midst of adversity.
2.     The ability to   encounter  and   deal      effectively  with problems
 and trouble.
3.     The ability to handle   negative        criticism   and
           condemnation  in a positive manner.

Scripture:    Joshua 24:1-13a, 14-25
              St. Matthew 25:1-13
Theme: Our Choices Speak Volume About Our Hope
Overview:
Everything we do along with every decision we make is about choice!   By God granting us free will, we have the right to make our own choices in life
about any and all matters.  I pray that every decision we make from hence forth will be based on the facts after prayerful consideration of them.
Life is full of    choices     .
Joshua wants the people to make an   informed        decision     .
Before we make a   choice   we should   think    it through first.
Every   choice   or   decision   carries with it   consequences    .
The Thessalonians asked Paul about their   deceased   loved ones.
Christians have an   assurance  about the afterlife that Non-Christians do not.

Scripture:    Acts 28:1-6
Theme: Shake It Off
Key Verses:Acts 28:4-5

Overview:
As Christians we are not suppose to rush, run or jump to conclusions. Everyone deservs the benefit of the doubt. Our world would be a much better place if the Children of
God would remember that all have sinned and come short, but because of God's Mercy and Grace the believer is granted another chance. Thus we are to give persons the
benefit of the doubt, and then we are to give them another chance. Why? Because we are all operating on another chance. Remember don't judge period, but more importantly,
let the facts determine your conclusions!
One of the greatest   assets   a Christian can have is   amnesia    !
The natives go from one   extreme  to the other   extreme   .
This man must be a   murderer   , but no, he is a   god  !
Have you ever jumped to a   conclusion   without the first   fact  ?

Scripture:    Jeremiah 31:31-34
Theme: Moving from the Head to the Heart
Key Verses:Jeremiah 31:33b
Overview:
The best example of moving from the Head to the Heart is found in St. Luke 15, in the Parable of the Prodigal Son.  The Father’s actions toward his son’s return point out how the
heart will move you from what is just and legal to what is right.

Scripture:    St. Luke  10:25-41
Theme: Are You A Good Neighbor?
Key Verses:St. Luke 10:33-36
Overview:
For many of us, a lot has changed since we first heard the parable of the Good Samaritan.  We have moved from the neighborhoods we grew up in.  Unless we  grew up in a
military family, for the most part, everyone in our neighbohood looked like us.  We knew our neighbor and our neighbor knew us.  Fast forward 20 to 40 years and that may
or may not be the case.  We may not know the person/family living on either side of us or across the street in front of us.  How do we relate to this parable today?
The key question: "Would you stop to help someone today?"
Who is your        neighbor                                    ?
Love requires an    investment                           .
Love               will make you change your   schedule                     .
Name two types of beatings that don't require a weapon of any kind:
      verbal                               mental
Both the      Priest          and the     Levite
had the same     opportunity                   to help.
Neither stopped because they were       afraid                       or
scared               they'd have to do    something                    .
The    Samaritan     had both    religion     and    love      .
A lot of folk in the church only have     religion         .

Scripture:    St. Luke 5:17-26
Theme: Miracles Require Action and Faith
Overview:
God uses ordinary people to do extra-ordinary things.  Are you one such person, if so, God is waiting to use you to get a specific job/task done.
All it takes is a willingness on your part to take action based on your faith and trust in God.
The men in this story took action based on what they had heard, not seen, but heard!  What they heard was enough to make them believe.
What about you today!  Will you take action?
The Keys to Receiving a Miracle:
1)  Know that God  can  and   will   use you.
2)  Miracles don’t happen by   chance   .
3)  The best plan does not always   pan     out  .
4)  You must possess the courage to try   something     new  .
5)  In order to get a miracle you must be willing to   pay   the   cost  .

Scripture: Numbers 6:22-27
Theme: “God Smiles When We . . . ”
Overview:
The late Rev. Dr. James Cleveland did a song entitled:“God Has Smiled On Me!”
A few of the lyrics are:
God has smiled on me, he has set me free;
God has smiled on me, He’s been good to me.
God is constantly smiling on us. As I heard a former member say on a number of occasions; “He woke me up this morning thus allowing my Golden Moments to roll on a
little while longer." Today we want to share what we should do as Christians to place a smile of God’s face!
God smiles when we     trust         God
God smiles when we      obey        God.
What three things could have made Noah   doubt           God rather than
trust                God when God told him to build the Ark?
1.   Never seen rain - This required Faith
2.   Lived humdreds of miles from water - This required Trust
3.   Rounding up and caring for the animals - This required Obedience

Sunday, May 20, 2012
Scripture: 1st Samuel 17:38-44
Theme: “ It's Okay To Be Yourself ”

David made a decision to fight the giant, Goliath, using the tools he was familiar with. What someone else has may look better and appear to work better than what you have.
Please understand;
God equips us according to our abilities.
To be successful, use what God have already blessed and equipped you with.

In a crisis situation two kinds of people emerge:
        heroes            and         cowards        !
Little David is bringing a   care       package   to his   3    brothers;
Eliab   ,   Abinadab   and   Shammah  .
Israel’s army is not fighting because they are afraid to accept the challenge of the
   Phillistine      Giant     Goliath   .
King Saul wants Little David to wear his    helment    ,    armor
and use his    sword    to fight    Goliath    .
This text is a perfect example of what lyrics by the late James Brown:
Use       What       You       Have    to    Get       What       You       Want   .

Scripture: St. Luke 19:1-10
Theme: “Forgiveness: God’s Love at Its Best!”
Synop:  Mother’s, like Jesus, have a unique way of looking beyond our faults and shortcomings and loving us anyway!  Often time mothers take the initiative in helping us rectify
the mess that we have made.  Jesus makes Zacchaeus feel worthy and valuable despite his sins and problems!  God looks beyond our sins and continues to love us because of
forgiveness.

Three points;
1.Zacchaeus appearance made him feel   insecure   and   lonely  .  He
suffered from the   Napoleonic Complex  .
2.He made his living as a   Tax  Collector  .  His own    people   the
       Jews   even  hated   him.
3.His   sins   made him feel   guilty   and   ashamed  .
Think About It:
For those whose Mom’s are still alive, what is one thing you’d like to tell her right now?
If your Mom is deceased, what is one of your favorite memories?

Sermon Title:" How To Get Back On Top! "
Speaker:   Reverend Larry Robinson
      Scripture:  1st Kings 19:11-18
Everyone is asked to read St. Luke 22:11-15 several times before Sunday!!!!!
Synop:Life does not stop just because we decide to stop participating! Remember
when you are smiling the whole world smiles at you. In fact the world continues
to smile even when we don't, therefore we might as well keep on smiling!
Point 1:  There are 3 types of Cave Dwellers:
A.  On the way to the cave.
B.  In the cave.
C.  On the way out!

Point 2:      Re-discovery    is the best way to make it back on top.    Re-discovery     helps you avoid your    cave dwelling experience   .

Point 3:  God has a    Plan   &   Purpose    for each one of US!  The best way to claim it is to    encourage    yourself from time to time.  A  pat    on the   back    may never come
so   encourage    yourself!

April 2012
Sunday, April 29, 2012:
Sermon Title:" Why do I wallow in my Mess:  Why do I stay in the Cave?! "
      Scripture:  1 Kings 19:11-18
1.For some, the cave becomes a place of protecton and security.
2.The cave is a dark place, thus it protects against the outside world
shinning a light on our situation.
3.With few exceptions, a cave only has one way in, meaning there is also only
one way out.  Thus, one may end up getting trapped in the cave!

Once we run into and start hiding out in the cave we find it much easier to stay there for many reasons. Of the many reasons there are three I find very interesting that I'd
like to share! Come out and tune in this Sunday Morning to discover what the three are!

Sunday, April 22, 2012:
Message:  "Wow, What Happened!"
Scripture: First Kings 19:11-18
Speaker:   Reverend Larry Robinson
We stop listening to God and start listening to Ahab & Jezebel.
Two Key Questions:
1.   As Clergy and Laity our most important Job is:Truth Telling
2.   What keeps us from doing our Job?
 As Clergy/Pastors:  Fear
Fear of being disliked;
Fear of hurting someone’s feelings;
Fear of certain persons closing their purses, wallets & checkbooks
 As Laity/Members:
Members keep quite, hopeing things will blow over or simply go away.
Sermon based on how do we go from being on top of the world one minute and down and out, scared and afraid the next! How do we go from being a go getter to a quitter!
What happens in those instances.
